Attention All: Critically Low Food Reserves – Call to Action Needed Our food bank is at a critical low level. We are unable to Feed Families that need urgent help with food. Some families and their children have not eaten anything since yesterday, We are being inundated with calls for help. We are not able to assist everyone because of the Food shortage we have currently due to a sharp increase of impoverished families that have become destitute over the last few months. We receive on average 10 to 14 new families across South Africa daily that need assistance, and this is steadily increasing. Two camps have run out of food completely since yesterday. There are currently 45 families that are requesting urgent food and assistance. We need your help to assist these families in their time of need. We rely on our donors to make a difference in our communities in South Africa. Thank you for your support. Please if anyone can donate food urgently, please contact the SAFRP Secretary Audrey on 082 495 0250 or if you would like to make a financial donation please visit our donation page on http://www.safrpsa.org/donate-money.html

If anyone knows or hears of a camp or informal settlement of which the majority makes up minority group people anywhere in South Africa, please let us know so that we can assist these families and add them to our database of camps and informal settlements that we are already aware of. We are appealing to every organisation, church and individual that can either assist, knows of, or has seen a camp, to please let us know, so that our organisation can collaborate to build an accurate data base, and start educating people as to the extent of the problem. Please comment with exact locations, no of residents, and person in charge by inboxing us or e-mail us at office.safrp@gmail.com. We need everyone's help so please share this post so that we can get the greatest reach. PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers! We have been experiencing security issues. People have phone and demanded that our volunteers meet them at night in dodgy places - DO NOT GO OUT AT NIGHT! 1.Please always make sure that you are never alone. Make sure that someone knows where you are going at all times. Your safety means allot and I will never forgive myself if something had to happen to anyone of you! 2. People have been phoning and demanding our volunteer pay over cash immediately - DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY! There are procedures in place to assist families eg. They have to fill in a signed assistance form, a home assessment should be done first and then and only after you have received all the documentation from the family will they be assisted. This is to ensure that truly needy folk get the help. 3. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR ADDRESS! Thank you everyone for all your hard work. I am proud of everyone of you! PLEASE BE SAFE. Leigh xx

Poverty is associated with the undermining of a range of key human attributes, including health. The poor are exposed to greater personal and environmental health risks, are less well nourished, have less information and are less able to access health care; they thus have a higher risk of illness and disability. Conversely, illness can reduce household savings, lower learning ability, reduce productivity, and lead to a diminished quality of life, thereby perpetuating or even increasing poverty. Poverty is often defined in absolute terms of low income – less than US$2 a day, for example. But in reality, the consequences of poverty exist on a relative scale. The poorest of the poor, around the world, have the worst health. Within countries, the evidence shows that in general the lower an individual’s socioeconomic position the worse their health. There is a social gradient in health that runs from top to bottom of the socioeconomic spectrum. This is a global phenomenon, seen in low, middle and high income countries. http://www.who.int/topics/poverty/en/

How to Help Improve the Lives of the Poor http://www.wikihow.com/Help-Improve-the-Lives-of-the-Poor
We help Families especially families with small children, and Single parent/grandparent headed households. Many families cannot even feed themselves, children do not have winter coats. Families in thousands of cases do not even have a place to call home. There are hundreds of thousands of people in squatter camps that lack even the basic necessities. Money may not be able to buy happiness, but it can feed and clothe a broken family. Even a small donation will make a real difference in someone’s life. Physical goods and Non-Perishable food items are also in high demand. Clothing, baby products, blankets and educational toys are also welcome. Please consider sending unneeded items to those who do or by assisting our projects by making a financial donation. Our mandate is to clothe and feed the impoverished and destitute minority group families in South Africa. We need all the help that we can get, as our financial reserves are dangerously low at the moment. We rely exclusively on donations that we receive from our donors being a non-profit company. We at SAFRP cherish all our donors and we love you all to the moon and back because all our donors make it possible for us to continue to make a difference in the lives of the impoverished in our societies.

The beautiful Thank You letter we received from our Food donation at the Parow Senior Centre... Dear Frik and Dyanne at SAFRP Attached please find our special certificate of appreciation for you donation and visit to our residents. The Parow Senior Centre is a welfare organization rendering services to elderly people who are still living in the community, but are mostly battling to make ends meet with only state pensions to support them. Therewith our Hernus Kriel Housing Complex offers low-cost housing to senior pensioners, who are in need of affordable supportive accommodation. To be able to sufficiently provide in their needs, constant fundraising events have to be staged.. Therefore we are very much dependant on the goodwill and support of the community and the business sector, for donations to make our services cost-effective for the senior. You will understand that your donation is a gift from heaven! Thank you very much. Not only will it help us financially, but your kindness inspires us and gives us hope! May God bless you for being so kind to us. Kind regards. I have a great story to share with you. Our volunteer team Dyanne and Frik was able to do a food donation on the 22nd of July 2016 to an Old Age home in Cape Town. They were recommended to us by Helpende Hand. They live in an old school building and only get 20 meals a month included in the price for their stay. The packs of food will be used to help the elderly over weekends so that they can have a meal. They were so grateful for the bit of relief that the food donation made. So many people take a plate of food for granted - until you don't have a meal to eat for the day. There are 56 elderly that stay at the Parow Senior Centre that is in the Harnes Kriel Housing complex. Thank you to our donors for making the day possible, for adding some smiles and fuller tummies. Please know how much you've helped our Elderly and how much we all appreciate it. Audrey and the SAFRP Team

Thank you to our donors that make it possible for us to continue to serve the less fortunate in our communities. We wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the financial donations you gave us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity! Audrey and the SAFRP Team
