On Friday the 19th of February 2016, SAFRP took Mommy Elizabeth and baby Melanie to a doctor that specializes in burn wounds. Melanie's wounds were cleaned and wrapped. She was given antibiotics to prevent infection and pain mdication for pain management. Mom Elizabeth will be taking baby Melanie for a check up on Tuesday at the hospital to determine the degree of damage and if a skin graft will be necessary. Melanie is doing well and has started to play with her brothers and sisters again. She is on the road to recovery. SAFRP will keep in touch and up to date on baby Melanie's progress. Wheelchair urgently needed: Brakpan area Adriaan Coetzee who is a former member of the SAPS and served his community for many years has now lost about 80% of his sight and has a white fleece “Cataract” that has grown over his eyes and he is unable to walk due to his joints becoming crystalized, his fingers and toes have become disfigured and pulled skew this is caused by his white blood cells eating his red blood cells. Adriaan receives a state disability pension and barely makes ends meet. Adriaan’s only goal is to have some of his sight back and be able to move around without being carried around, so that he can work again and be a productive member of society again. As he says in his own words “I can’t sit still and let time pass me by, I have a lot more to do in life than merely sitting around wasting away like this.” This man was an inspiration to many fellow SAPS Members and his community. Please, if anyone can donate a wheelchair to assist Adriaan and improve his quality of life. Please inbox us, e-mail on office.safrp@gmail.com or call Liza on 071 165 5424.

Happy birthday to a fabulous and amazing woman, our very own Leigh Oxley Du Preez of SAFRP. You’re so inspiring and wonderful to all that meet you every day of the year. We hope you have a day that is filled with the utmost happiness and joy! You are not a wine or a cheese that only gets better as it ages. Instead, you are a beautiful person, strong because of the years of selfless work you do for others and hopeful because of the years ahead. For this birthday, please remember that where you have been has only a fraction of the joy of where you are going. Happy Birthday to a passionate, loving, wonderful woman. The world is a much better place with you in it. We hope you have the best of the best on your birthday and every day of the year!

This is the Burnette family, they live on a plot in a warehouse with no water, no electricity, no income and no food. We assisted them with a food donation and we were brought to tears. Mr. Burnette has a very serious back injury, their eldest son was in an accident just after Christmas and has steel rods in his leg, he was the only bread winner in the home. Because of your donations we could give the family food, fresh drinking water and paraffin for their fridge. Thank you to everyone that donated! Leigh xx

In life what matters most is when you stand after every fall. Don't let defeat and disappointment break or define you. Instead rise up and use those life lessons to strengthen you. Look for the miracles in your life that money can't buy. Break Free.
